چکیده
Electrostatic charges near the interface between topological (TI) and ordinary (OI) insulators induce magnetic fields in medium that can be described through so-called method of image dyons (electric charge - monopole pairs), magnetoelectric extension classical electrostatics. Here, we provide expressions for ensuing potentials a system comprised by two planar-parallel OI-TI interfaces conforming finite-width slab. The obtained formulae extend earlier work they account all different combinations materials forming slab its surroundings, including asymmetric systems, as well possible external magnetization orientations on interfaces. equations are susceptible implementation simple computational codes, to solved recurrently, order model quantum wells, thin films, or layers two-dimensional materials. We exemplify this calculating induced point nanometer-thick means Mathematica code made available repositories.

Prediction of a two-dimensional organic topological insulator.
Topological insulators (TI) are a class of materials exhibiting unique quantum transport properties with potential applications in spintronics and quantum computing. To date, all of the experimentally confirmed TIs are inorganic materials. Recent theories predicted the possible existence of organic TIs (OTI) in two-dimensional (2D) organometallic frameworks. However, those theoretically propose...
متن کاملOptical resonator analog of a two-dimensional topological insulator.
A lattice of optical ring resonators can exhibit a topological insulator phase, with the role of spin played by the direction of propagation of light within each ring. Unlike the system studied by Hafezi et al., [Nat. Phys. 7, 907 (2011).] topological protection is achieved without fine-tuning the interresonator couplings, which are given the same periodicity as the underlying lattice. The topo...

To overcome the challenge of using two-dimensional materials for nanoelectronic devices, we propose two-dimensional topological insulator field-effect transistors that switch based on the modulation of scattering. We model transistors made of two-dimensional topological insulator ribbons accounting for scattering with phonons and imperfections. In the on-state, the Fermi level lies in the bulk ...
متن کاملEdge-mode superconductivity in a two-dimensional topological insulator.
Topological superconductivity is an exotic state of matter that supports Majorana zero-modes, which have been predicted to occur in the surface states of three-dimensional systems, in the edge states of two-dimensional systems, and in one-dimensional wires. Localized Majorana zero-modes obey non-Abelian exchange statistics, making them interesting building blocks for topological quantum computi...

The heterostructured configuration between two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor materials has enabled the engineering of the band gap and the design of novel devices. So far, the synthesis of single-component topological insulator (TI) 2D materials such as Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3, and Sb2Te3 has been achieved through vapor phase growth and molecular beam epitaxy; however, the spatial controlled fabricatio...
